In an alternative present-day America, the country is divided – between the Union of American States and The People's Region Of The Americas. Separated at birth by the red-tape of bureaucracy, two fraternal twins – Cris and Arissa – are reunited when Cris illegally immigrates into The Region seeking its socialized health care. Having risked his life to get critical surgery, Cris learns that, more important than his own disease, he must heal the rift left by the family's separation.
